History
Since 1973, the hotel has been owned by the family Vertelman. It initially operated as a café, and in the 1980s, the first rooms were completed, allowing us to welcome guests from all over the world. The third generation is now in charge.
Hotel de Magneet is characterized by its personal touch. Unlike large hotel chains, it has been run for decades by a family committed to West Frisian common sense and hospitality.
Today, the hotel is known for its unique location on the edge of the city center, where the tranquility of the Markermeer lake and the bustle of the city center converge. It's a favorite spot for cyclists and walkers visiting the West Frisian Circular Dike.
Did you know?
The hotel is just a stone's throw from the spot where the Dutch East India Company (VOC) ships once docked. Guests looking out their windows can still see the outlines of the city that was a global power in the 17th century.
